Before Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was declared the Overall Winner of this Perodua Eco Challenge 2017, it bagged top spot for the Product Marketing as well as Parts Development categories. The only category it didn’t get into the top 3 was the Design Sketch Competition.

Perodua Eco Challenge 2017, UiTM Techno Seat, MalaysiaPerodua Eco Challenge 2017, Techno Seat, Universiti Teknologi MARA UiTMUiTM’s winning product is the ‘Techno-Seat’ which features a hidden storage compartment in the front passenger seat’s backrest. The compartment, which is built flushed with the seat, features LED illumination, a USB charging port and a storage pocket.

Perodua President & CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, Perodua Eco Challenge 2017Datuk (Dr) Aminar said that the company will consider studying, together with a local vendor, the adoption of the winning design in future Perodua models. “We hope to see this design implemented either in our current model line-up through running changes or new models in years to come,” he added.

The Perodua Eco Challenge was first held in 2009 and is open to local higher learning institutions to show off their design, engineering and business prowess in building eco-friendly cars out of Perodua’s existing models. However, Perodua had decided to change it up this year to focus on vehicle components and accessories that fulfill the elements of (E)nvironment, (C)reativity and (O)riginality, as the results from this will be more practical to implement.

Since the beginning of the year, the 10 shortlisted institutions have been working closely with Perodua’s research and development team, vendors and mentors to fine-tune their business cases, designs and prototypes.

For the month of December, Perodua is offering an exclusive deal for Axia, Bezza and Alza (selected variants only) with a rebate of up to RM 2,000.

The company is also encouraging everyone to check out its ‘Jom Singgah’ campaign by visiting authorized Perodua showrooms and service centers nationwide and enjoying a fun-filled day with special promotions and great offers. The ‘Jom Singgah’ campaign runs from 8 – 10 December.

Perodua Continues To Lead In Malaysia Market; Sets Higher Sales Of 209k Units For 2018

According to national carmaker, Perodua, it will still hold a dominant 35% share of the Malaysia passenger car market based on its recorded 2017 sales of 204,900 units versus the expected total industry volume (TIV) of 590,000 vehicles in 2018.

Perodua 2018 Sales Projections, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, MalaysiaFor 2017, Perodua had set a lower sales target of 202,000 units (down from the 207,100 achieved in 2016) due to weak market sentiments, intense competition and tightened credit. In reality however, it managed to exceed the 2017 target by 2%. In view of the uptick in sales momentum and expected improvement of market sentiment (despite the ongoing credit squeeze), Perodua has set itself a higher sales target of 209,000 for 2018; if this target is met, the company will maintain its market share of 35%.

“The momentum carried by the Bezza in the earlier part of 2017 and the continued demand for our other models have helped make us the top-selling carmaker in Malaysia for the 12th year running,” said Perodua President and CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

“That being said, we are happy to say that we expect the numbers to climb back up this year due to favourable economic conditions as well as the continued momentum for the new Myvi,” he added.

Perodua Myvi 1.5L AV Rear, Malaysia 2017The new Perodua Myvi, which was launched in November last year, has so far taken in 36,000 bookings with 11,000 units already delivered to its owners. The disparity in delivery and booking numbers is due to the requested registration period by buyers, and Perodua’s underestimation of the popularity of the more expensive 1.5L variants.

“We expect more registrations moving forward, as most of the customers who placed orders last year wanted their cars delivered in 2018. That being said, we are also doing our level best to meet demand especially for the 1.5L variants, which was beyond our expectations.  Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, our manufacturing arm, is currently working overtime to ensure deliveries are made within an acceptable time frame,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar explained.

Where export sales are concerned, the company has seen a decline in its biggest market, Indonesia, where it sells the Myvi as the Daihatsu Boon. Nonetheless, Sri Lanka is holding steady in its sales (1,305 units) while other markets like Mauritius, Fiji, Singapore and Brunei are also showing growth. With the increase in vehicle sales in these export markets, the export of parts and components to these markets will also grow in tandem.

Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd Official Opening AssemblyPerodua SentralIn terms of production, the company is looking at a production volume of 215,334 this year (up from 200,146 in 2017) to meet local market demand. It will also continue to modernise its production facilities as well as aid local vendor development.

The company also plans to further grow its after-sales business of after-warranty servicing, and body & paint. For 2018, it is projecting service intake to grow by 1.9% to 2.14 million (from 2.1 million intakes in 2017). “This will be done by upgrading current facilities to have more bays and by further improving our people’s competencies. This will further reduce our customers’ waiting time while at the same time increase intakes,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

Elsewhere, it has opened a hybrid sales outlet for new and pre-owned vehicles in Kuala Lumpur which will be launched officially soon. In other matters, Perodua will continue its corporate social responsibility activities.

Perodua has estimated that its January 2018 sales of 17,693 vehicles represents a monthly market share of over 40%, based on its own estimate of Total Industry Volume (TIV) of 43,930 vehicles for the month, according to Perodua President and CEO, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh. If the estimate is accurate, this will be Perodua’s highest-ever monthly market share. Leading the charge for Perodua is the recently launched new Myvi (9,029 units), followed by Axia (4,085), Bezza (2,776) and Alza (1,803).

“While we defer to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA)’s numbers, we are cautiously optimistic that for January 2018, our monthly market share is the highest ever in our history. This was spurred by deliveries of the new Myvi, as well as continued strong demand for our other models,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

To-date, over 20,000 units of the new Myvi have been delivered to its owners, out of over 48,000 bookings made.

“This performance has been a great boost to the Malaysian automotive ecosystem as the better-than-expected demand for our latest offering as well as our current model line-up have resulted in better demand for local parts,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar added.

With a projected production volume of 215,334 this year (up from 200,146 in 2017), Perodua is estimating a RM5 billion expenditure in sourcing for parts and components, mainly from local vendors; all Perodua models have over 90% local content. For 2018, the company has set a sales target of 209,000 vehicles.

“To all Malaysians, we simply cannot thank you enough for your love and support for our humble hatchback through all these years. Your recognition spurs us on to work harder on bettering our products and services, because as always, You Matter Most,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

“To those who have placed orders for the new Myvi and have yet to receive their cars, we sincerely apologise for the wait. Rest assured that we are ramping up production to get the cars to you as quickly as we can. The Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd plant will continue to work overtime until demand stabilises,” he continued.

At a Chinese New Year luncheon for its business partners and the media, Datuk (Dr) Aminar also took the opportunity to wish all Chinese Malaysians ‘Xin Nien Kuai Le‘ and ‘Gong Xi Fa Cai‘ on behalf of the company.

National Emission Test Centre Launch, Malaysia, Perodua, Daihatsu, Malaysia Automotive InstituteThe first full-fledged vehicle emissions test facility in Malaysia, the National Emission Test Centre (NETC), has been officially launched. Situated near the Perodua manufacturing plant in Rawang, the NETC cost RM50 million to set up, with testing equipment contributed by Daihatsu via its subsidiary, Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The centre will be run by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and will be available to all vehicle manufacturers in Malaysia as well as ASEAN for emissions testing. The centre is capable of producing real-time results of exhaust emissions according to UN Regulation 83 and 101.

National Emission Test Centre NETC - Dyno Room (Wide 2) - MalaysiaEmissions tests are required for vehicle manufacturers to comply with the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) and Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) certification. With the establishment of the NETC, manufacturers will save on logistical costs and time as they no longer need to ship vehicles overseas for such tests.

The testing facility is made up of a soak room (where the vehicles stay until they reach a pre-set temperature), an emission & equipment room, and a control room. The testing can be done for cold weather as well as hot, gasoline direct injection (GDI) and non-GDI vehicles. There is also a plan to expand testing to motorcycles and commercial vehicles in the near future.

National Emission Test Centre, Malaysia Automotive Institute, Dato Madani Sahari“As Malaysia moves to improve energy efficiency in transportation, reducing carbon emissions is vital to meet global standards. The National Emission Test Centre, being the first full-fledged emission test centre in the country, will serve OEMs operating in Malaysia and the ASEAN region,” said Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO of MAI.

“The establishment of NETC is timely and consistent with Government’s intention as specified in NAP 2014. NETC is able to facilitate automotive manufacturers in Malaysia to conduct emissions testing locally as well as to further promote EEV usage in Malaysia. This is a stepping stone to make Malaysia a regional hub for EEVs in the near future,” according to Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamad, Minister of International Trade and Industry.

National Emission Test Centre Launch, Voluntary EEV Label, Malaysia Automotive InstituteIn conjunction with the launch of the NETC was the introduction of the Voluntary EEV Label. This label is placed on EEV certified vehicles and information of said vehicles can be obtained by consumers by scanning the QR code.

This label serves as an awareness platform for consumers on a vehicle’s fuel efficiency and emissions, as Malaysia is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 45% by year 2030 according to the Paris Agreement.

Memorandum Of Understanding, Malaysia Automotive Institute & Department Of Environment 2018At the same time, MAI signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) – one with the Department of Environment (DOE) to collaborate on initiatives towards environmental preservation, and the other with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to increase government-academic cooperation.

The MOU with DOE aims to develop a pool of experts in environmental conservation, cooperate in capacity building programs for the automotive industry and its stakeholders, as well as on the establishment of the NETC. The goal is to enhance research and technical support for data collection to aid in the forming of environmental policy and technology roadmaps for the local automotive industry.

Memorandum Of Understanding, Malaysia Automotive Institute & Universiti Kebangsaan MalaysiaThe MOU with UKM is to enhance cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Management, and to engage UKM as a university-industrial partner for information exchange relating to the development of teaching, research and commercialization.

Perodua has introduced the GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) that allows you to keep track of your vehicle’s tyre pressures in real time via the in-car smart device. The Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS is currently offered at an introductory price of RM385 that is valid until 30 June, 2018. Its original retail price is RM430 (in Peninsular Malaysia). GearUp is Perodua’s own aftermarket brand and all its accessories are covered by a 6-month warranty.

Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth Tyre Pressure Monitoring System TPMS Kit, MalaysiaThe TPMS is made up of four tyre sensors and an in-car smart device. The tyre sensors are screwed on to the tyre valves (in place of the valve caps) and transmit information via Bluetooth to the in-car smart device. The in-car smart device has four lights representing the four tyres of the vehicle. If air pressure in a tyre falls below 8% of the recommended value, the in-car device will light up and sound off an alert beep.

To prevent theft, the each tyre sensor can be locked using the included lock nut spanner. Additionally, the in-car smart device has a built-in motion sensor that puts it in sleep mode when it detects no motion, to save battery. The tyre sensors are powered by coin-cell batteries while the in-car smart device is powered by two AA batteries (all batteries are included in the kit).

“With the Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS, Perodua has become the first carmaker in Malaysia to introduce a mobile app-enabled tyre pressure monitoring system as an original accessory,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

“The Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS is locally developed and manufactured. We at Perodua take pride in championing a home-grown product and in doing so, contributing to the local automotive ecosystem,” added Dato’ Dr Zahari.

“This is the second GearUp product to be released under our Road Safety Campaign initiative which
was launched last October, the first being the Child Seats,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Tyres are the only contact points for the car to the road and improperly inflated tyres affect not only driving safety but fuel consumption as well.

Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth Tyre Pressure Monitoring System TPMS FOBO Tire Mobile App“With the Perodua GearUp Smart Bluetooth TPMS, users can conveniently keep an eye on their tyres to make sure they stay within the recommended pressures, thereby preserving tyre life, helping to reduce fuel consumption and ensuring the vehicle’s overall safety,” Dato’ Dr Zahari explained.

Further, you can also download the FOBO Tire mobile app (available for iOS 7.1 and Android 4.3 and above) and get real-time data on the vehicle’s tyre pressures and tyre temperatures via Bluetooth. The app also stores the data on the cloud for the viewing of other invited users, such as family members. For instance, a user at home can monitor the information in real time while the vehicle is being driven by a family member.

Judging by how well the third generation Perodua Myvi is selling, owners of the previous generation Myvi might be concerned that Perodua will focus its production capacity on the new and neglect the old. But fear not as the company has given its assurance that it remains committed to supporting its customers.

Looking on is IQM Executive Director En Aidil Azlan Mohd Fitri (back, middle) and IQM Group Business and Marketing General Manager En Azrai Ramli (back, right).

Hence Perodua has outsourced a new parts production line for the second generation Myvi to one of its vendors, IQM Sdn Bhd. This production line is located in IQM’s facility in Proton City, Tanjung Malim and produces body components such as hoods, doors, fenders, quarter panels and roofs.

“For our customers’ safety, convenience and peace-of- mind, we are giving our commitment to them that we will continue to produce high-quality and affordable parts for their Perodua vehicles,” said Mr Takahashi Masanori, Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd President, at the Myvi Service Parts Line official opening last week.

The Myvi Service Parts Line at IQM Tanjung Malim will produce only body components for the time being, owing to high demand for such parts. Engine parts for the second generation Myvi will continue to be produced on a one-shot basis at Perodua’s own PMSB facility in Rawang; other parts are currently produced by various vendors.

“We elected to outsource parts production for the second-generation Myvi because our manufacturing plants are already at peak capacity. Being already a manufacturer of Viva parts since production of the model ended in 2014, IQM was a natural choice for this project,” he explained.

Perodua Myvi Service Parts Line, IQM Sdn BhdIQM is a supplier of metal stamping, body assembly parts and brake tube components to Perodua and began manufacturing service parts for the Perodua Viva in 2014, as production of the model ended. Viva parts are still being produced today at IQM’s Tanjung Malim facility.

Besides the second-generation Myvi and the Viva, original parts for the first-generation Myvi, Kelisa and even the Kancil are still being produced by vendors in Malaysia, so it should allay any concerns of the difficulty in sourcing for parts.

We take a break from covering the price revision for cars and focus on the more personable side of the business. Perodua volunteers recently visited the Sabah Women and Children Hospital bringing with them gifts for the child patients as well as equipment and supplies for the hospital, in celebration of the Kaamatan season and the holy month of Ramadan.

Perodua CSR, Sabah Women And Children Hospital, MalaysiaThe equipment and supplies contributed by Perodua include two sets of Miller 3 straight laryngoscope blades with handle worth RM1,800 each, as well as 40 bed pillows with PVC covers.

“We wish to acknowledge and thank the selfless staff of the Sabah Women and Children Hospital for their services to the people,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer YBhg Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

Together with Lego Malaysia, Perodua gave each of the 250 child patients at the hospital a Lego playset along with other goodies.

“Perodua takes this opportunity to wish Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan to all who celebrate. May this festival bring us all closer together, and we hope for a harvest just as plentiful next year,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

Separately, Perodua recently returned to Shan Children’s Home in Perai, Penang with a team of 10 volunteers from its outlets in Penang and Kedah. The carmaker first visited Shan Children’s Home on the eve of Deepavali 2017 and contributed over RM20,000 in the form of goods and cash, and announced its commitment to a three-year Corporate Responsibility programme with the home.

This time, Perodua arranged a bread-making class for the home’s 19 children who found it entertaining and educational. The volunteers also helped with spring cleaning and handed out soft toys to the children.

“There are so many ways we can help these children. Material and monetary help is welcome, but both are finite. By engaging the children in educational activities like this, we hope to equip them with skills and knowledge that will benefit them throughout their lifetime,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

As part of its ongoing five-year Road Safety Campaign commitment, Perodua distributed 100 GearUp child seats to motorists at three highway rest areas.

Introduced concurrently with the Road Safety Campaign launch last October, Perodua’s GearUp
child seats are available in two models i.e. Infant and Toddler. Both are ISOFIX compatible and satisfy ECE
R44 safety standards.

The Infant seat, priced at RM622.50 (RM640 in East Malaysia), is suitable for infants weighing up to 13 kg, while the Toddler seat, priced at RM736 (RM754.50 in East Malaysia), is designed for children weighing 9-36 kg. All prices are introductory with 0% Goods and Services Tax (GST), valid until 30 June.

The Toddler seats were gifted to lucky Perodua drivers traveling with children aged between two and six, at Petronas stations at Rawang (PLUS), Bentong (Karak Highway) and Seremban (KL-Seremban Highway) rest areas.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin presents a GearUp Child Seat to a lucky motorist and his young son.

“This is the first time Perodua is organising such an event in collaboration with our partner Petronas and our panel of insurers,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

“We took this special initiative because we care for the well-being of our customers and their families. We hope Malaysians will come to realise how important it is to keep children properly secured in child seats while on the move,” he added.

“Over two million vehicles are expected to hit the roads this Raya. That’s a lot of vehicles, and naturally, there is a higher risk of collisions and accidents,” Dato’ Dr Zahari said.

“Seat belts are designed to restrain adults and not children. Please secure your young ones in child seats, ideally in the back seat, and do not place them on your laps when the vehicle is in motion. Always buckle up in the front and in the back, use your turn signals and do not operate your mobile devices on the move. Above all, drive carefully and have a safe journey back to your hometowns,” he continued.

Rawang, 13 June 2018 – Concerned about the safety of some 7,000 of its employees who will be travelling back to their hometowns this Hari Raya season, Perodua had initiated a month-long road safety programme for its staff to inculcate road safety awareness in them.

ptrThe month-long programme set to remind its employees on the basic rules of the road as well as safety tips that would save precious time and money when they make the long journey home to meet their loved ones. This safety programme is part of Perodua’s ongoing Road Safety Campaign five-year initiative which also saw the company give away 100 GearUp child seats to Perodua owners who are travelling with children this Hari Raya.

The core principle of this programme is to raise road safety awareness especially among the company’s employees as well as Perodua owners and encourage the use of seat belts, turn signals, child seats and discourage drivers from using their phones while driving.

“The journey home can be a challenging one as there are many vehicles on the roads. During such a time, it is important that we stay cool, alert and courteous while driving or riding,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

“We believe education should begin at home, which is why the Perodua Road Safety Campaign is mainly centred on educating our people on the importance of their vehicles’ safety equipment as well as making good driving habits second nature to them. We believe in leading by example and hope that all Malaysian drivers will accept our invitation to make Malaysian roads the safest in the region,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar added.

davThe programme also included ensuring the employees’ motorcycles are in good working order before
the Hari Raya holidays, with free inspections carried out earlier.

For the public, Perodua’s Tweckbot mobile car inspection service had carried out free pre-Raya 50-point checks on 380 Perodua vehicles in total at Tesco Kota Bharu earlier in May, as well as at a Petronas station in Kota Kinabalu..

Tweckbot will be at Petronas Sungai Buloh PLUS R&R on 23 and 24 June for post-Raya checks, offering as always a 20% discount on parts and accessories to all inspected vehicles that return to Perodua service branches and dealers.

“For our valued customers, please service your Perodua vehicle at the most convenient Perodua service centre near you.

Datuk (Dr) Aminar, on behalf of Perodua, wishes everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and happy holidays.

Perodua Receives Certification For Latest ISO Customer Satisfaction And Environmental Responsibility Standards

Rawang, 29 June: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) and its fully-owned subsidiary Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd has been certified by SIRIM to the latest 2015 versions of the ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) 9001 and 14001 standards, emphasising the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and environmental responsibility.

In order to be certified for ISO 9001, an organisation must comply with quality best practices in their work processes, with the aim of improving customer satisfaction in every sense. Whereas ISO 14001 focuses on environmental standards.

Perodua first adopted ISO standards in 1998. ISO 9001 was extended to Perodua sales and service branches in stages from 2005, standardising the customer experience across the board. All Perodua branches are currently ISO-certified.

Perodua has thus far successfully undergone one ISO 14001 and three ISO 9001 version upgrades, including today’s certification, which covers a total of 39 sales and 55 service branches nationwide, plus 35 departments under Perodua Headquarters.

“SIRIM’s ISO recognition means a lot to Perodua as it reinforces our vision of becoming a regionally competitive player and demonstrates our strive for Kaizen or continuous improvement,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh at a certificate presentation ceremony held today at Perodua’s headquarters in Sungai Choh. At the ceremony was also SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd Managing Director En Mohd Azanuddin Salleh, who presented the certificates to Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

“The demands of the market and industry never stop changing, and it is essential that we constantly update our standards and procedures to adapt and respond to those changes. Only if we remain relevant to our customers can we exceed their expectations,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

“With this certification upgrade, we hope to further reduce the satisfaction index gap between us and other recognised international players,” he added. Datuk (Dr) Aminar said that Perodua will also extend these standards to its business partners, be they dealers or suppliers in the near future.

“We will ensure our business partners and suppliers comply with green practices as required by ISO standards, including the sourcing of materials in environmentally-friendly ways,” he said.

Adopting ISO practices has also led to improvements for Perodua’s internal processes and communications, as well as customer deliveries, amongst many others. First introduced in 1987, ISO 9001 is one of the world’s most widely-used quality management systems, with the latest 2015 revision expanding the requirements to
include risk-based thinking.

ISO 14001 was born in 1996 and concerns environmental management and pollution prevention. The latest ISO 14001:2015 revision brings additional emphasis on leadership, strategic planning, proactive initiatives and even communications strategies.

Perodua Readies Its After-Sales Staff For Record 2.14 Million Service Intake This Year

Perodua established its National Technical Skill Contest in 1997 and has since been using it as a platform to help its after-sales personnel improve their knowledge, standards and skill. This is particularly helpful in 2018 as Perodua is forecasting a record 2.14 million service intakes this year.

Perodua Malaysia, 2018 National Technical Skill ContestThe Perodua National Technical Skill Contest puts service advisors, foremen, mechanics, and for the first time this year, Body & Paint service advisors, through a series of tough customer-related scenarios.

This year’s contest was among the largest Perodua has ever conducted, with more than 2,000 after-sales staff across the country, from dealers as well as branches, taking part in the preliminary round in February.

“Participants are judged on how correctly, thoroughly, quickly and efficiently they solve the issues given, and not just from a technical perspective – they also have to demonstrate a strong focus on the all-important Customer Satisfaction,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

The national finals was held recently (19 July) and saw mechanics Nur Adilin Mohd Yusuf (KK1 branch) and Muhd Izuan Kamarul Baharin (Nagoya Automobile), foremen Jamaluddin Ja’asa (Seremban branch) and Felix Chee Tuin (Posh Auto), service advisors Noor Faziha Md Anas (Ipoh2 branch) and Siti Fatimah Abu Samah (Roda Juara), as well as Body & Paint service advisor Arthur James (KK1 branch) emerge as winners.

“The victors represent the best Perodua has to offer in the country in terms of service, and are examples to us all. Their technical expertise, customer focus and problem-solving skills will be cascaded throughout our after-sales divisions for our customers’ benefit,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Perodua National Technical Skill Contest, Malaysia 2018“After-sales plays an extremely crucial role in our quest to satisfy and delight our customers. Via healthy competition, the Perodua National Technical Skill Contest serves to exercise and ensure our service capabilities remain up to standard, competitive and relevant to the ever-changing needs and wants of the customer. ‘People First’ in Perodua’s slogan refers to both our employees and customers. We will never cease to develop and improve the capabilities of our employees so that they can better serve our customers and retain their trust,” he added.

Perodua Zero Accident Campaign Aims To Cut Down Accidents Involving Staff

In addition to its Road Safety Campaign launched in late 2017, Perodua has kicked off the Perodua Zero Accident Campaign starting in Kulim, Kedah. The objective of this campaign is to help reduce road accidents and it starts with the car manufacturer’s 10,300 employees nationwide.

tamponamentoWith the Perodua Zero Accident Campaign, Perodua hopes to achieve a zero road accident rate involving its staff traveling to and from their respective workplaces, in addition to the zero industrial accident rate, by the year 2021 while performing their respective duties.

“This Perodua Zero Accident Campaign is our first nationwide initiative among our staff, involving our manufacturing, sales and after-sales network, to set an example by being good drivers,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

The Perodua Zero Accident Campaign is supported by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), also known as PERKESO. Both organisations come under the Ministry of Human Resources.

“While reduction and even elimination of industry-related accidents has always been the core focus of our Occupational, Health and Safety rules, we are now expanding that focus to include travel outside our premises. We believe the cultivation of good driving habits begins at home and we want to inculcate as much education on safe and responsible driving into our staff so that they would be a good example to all,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

The Perodua Zero Accident Campaign will roll out in stages nationwide starting from this week until the end of the year. Datuk (Dr) Aminar said that Perodua hopes to take learning points from this Perodua Zero Accident Campaign and integrate it into the larger five-year Perodua Road Safety Campaign.

Perodua Road Safety Campaign, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, 2017The Perodua Road Safety Campaign aims to reduce road accidents by educating drivers of the need to understand and obey basic road rules and courtesies such as the importance of wearing seatbelts, why child car seats are essential, the significance of using directional indicators and why mobile devices are a driver’s worst enemy.

“We use education as the approach because we believe most Malaysian drivers are aware of the rules and courtesies but may not understand the reasons behind them. Education will certainly take longer but once they fully understand the reasons behind the rules, the impact will be stronger,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

The Perodua Zero Accident Campaign was officiated by Datuk (Dr) Aminar and was witnessed by DOSH Kedah Director En Hairozie Asri, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin and Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd President Datuk Ahmad Suhaimi Hashim, who is also Chairman of the Perodua Group Safety Committee.
