Perodua Accepts Responsibility for Myvi Production Disruption; Delay in Delivery of New Myvi Before 1 September

Rawang, 20 August 2018 – Perodua has issued a statement informing that due to a supply disruption at one of its vendors, production of Perodua’s best-selling model, the new Myvi, has been temporarily halted. This has resulted in the delay in registering the new Myvi for about 3,000 customers before the end of August.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr. Zahari Husin“We wish to apologise most sincerely to our customers who have been waiting patiently for their new Myvi,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin. “We take full responsibility for this issue and are putting all the necessary measures in place to ensure that production resumes as soon as possible,” he added.

Dato’ Dr Zahari said that for Perodua, the current priority is to deliver the new Perodua Myvi to some 3,000 customers who were originally scheduled to receive their cars before 1 September, before the planned implementation of the new Sales & Service Tax, adding that allocation for all Myvi orders before 1 June has just been completed.

“We fully understand and are deeply concerned with the frustration of the customers involved. As such, we are currently working on a suitable form of compensation for said customers and will get in touch with them very soon via our outlets,” Dato’ Dr Zahari said.

There has been a surge in demand for vehicles since the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate was reduced from 6% to 0% effective 1 June 2018, ahead of the imminent reintroduction of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) on 1 September.

Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd Official Opening Assembly LineTo date, over 68,000 Perodua Myvis have reached owners out of over 120,000 bookings collected since the hatchback’s November 2017 launch, making it consistently Perodua’s best seller throughout the year so far.

“We are working as hard as we can to remedy this supply disruption and resume Myvi production as soon as possible. That said, production of our other models are running normally and deliveries of our Axia, Bezza and Alza continue to be on track.

“We invite our valued customers to speak to our authorised sales advisors for more information on our models as well as the estimated delivery times of their Myvi,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Perodua has sold an estimated 140,000 vehicles between January and July this year, representing a jump of nearly 19% over the 118,600 it sold in the previous corresponding period.

Perodua Offers Cash Rebates For 3,100 Myvi Owners Affected By Delay

Perodua is offering cash rebates for the 3,100 Myvi owners who are affected by the delay due to a temporary production halt. These owners were slated to receive their new Myvi before 1 September before the new Sales and Service Tax (SST) comes into effect.

On 20 August, Perodua announced that production of its current best-selling model, the new Myvi, had been interrupted due to a vendor supply disruption.

“We sincerely apologise to not just those whose orders could not be fulfilled before the SST reintroduction, but each and every single customer who has booked our new Myvi after them, as this production disruption will evidently delay deliveries of Myvis ordered more recently,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

“Our authorised personnel will be contacting each and every one of those customers whose booked Myvis were supposed to be registered before 1 September to capitalise on the zero-GST tax holiday prices,” he continued.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate was reduced from 6% to zero on 1 June, opening up a three-month tax holiday before the SST was scheduled to replace it. This had resulted in a rise in vehicle demand by consumers taking advantage of the zero tax rate.

“We wish to offer our valued customers a cash rebate upon registration of their vehicles, as compensation for the considerable inconvenience caused to them. In the meantime, we will keep them updated on their Myvi delivery times,” Dato’ Dr Zahari added.

“Customers always come first at Perodua. We fully understand the frustration and grievances caused by this unintended development, and are doing all we can to ensure Myvi production resumes as soon as possible,” he continued.

Perodua Announces New Pricing with SST; 1% to 3% Reduction for Selected Models

Rawang, 3 September 2018 – Perodua has announced its new prices for its models, based on the implementation of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) from 1 September 2018 and has noted that selected models see a reduction in price of between 1% – 3% compared to when the 6% Goods and Services Tax (GST) was enforced.

Earlier on, there were concerns from consumers that the implementation of the SST, which is rated at 10% for sales (and 6% for services), will cause car retail prices to increase when compared to the 6% GST. But because GST is a multi-level tax that applies to the entire supply chain, it has worked out to be more than SST in certain cases.

Perodua Sales, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin, Managing Director, Malaysia“Based on the new tax structure, almost all Perodua models see price reductions compared to the GST price structure,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.

The tax holiday in the past 3 months pending the introduction of SST had caused an extraordinary increase in vehicle sales, and Perodua is working hard to deliver vehicles in a timely manner. “We wish to thank all Malaysians, especially our 3.3 million valued customers who have chosen Perodua as their brand of choice. We will continue to offer the best value in the Malaysian market with our new prices,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

“On Perodua’s service and parts, we will continue to give competitive pricing to our customers. We truly appreciate the unwavering support the people have shown for our products and services, and will continue to improve ourselves for our customers.”

“Please visit any of our sales and service outlets nationwide and speak to our authorised sales and service advisors to learn more about our products and services,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Energy Efficient Vehicles Production And Sale By Perodua Hit Over Half A Million Units

Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) production and sale by Perodua has hit over half a million units, a major milestone for the company, cementing its status as the Malaysia’s top EEV company.

Since the start of EEV classification in the 2014 National Automotive Policy (NAP 2014), about 344,000 Axias, 130,800 Bezzas and 75,800 new Myvis have rolled off the production lines at Sungai Choh, Selangor.

Perodua President & CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, Perodua Eco Challenge 2017“Our EEV journey began in 2014 with the Axia, the nation’s first EEV and our first Transformation model. We followed up just two years later with the Bezza, our first EEV sedan and then the new Myvi in 2017,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

To qualify for EEV status, a vehicle must meet or surpass a set fuel economy figure (measured according to the UNECE R101 standard) for its kerb weight. The Axia, Bezza and new Myvi are all rated with fuel efficiencies of over 20 kilometres per litre.

Perodua Bezza GXtra 1.0L Side View, Malaysia Autoshow 2018 LaunchAnd it’s not just the products – the Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd facility, which manufactures the Axia and Bezza, is also Malaysia’s first EEV-certified plant, incorporating energy-efficient technologies to reduce production emissions and set new standards in quality, cost management and delivery.

“The frugality of our vehicles contributes to very low running costs, as well as being in line with the government’s aspirations towards a cleaner and greener Malaysia, and the global trend towards more fuel-efficient cars. Most crucially, the vehicles themselves are within reach of most Malaysians,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

“These combine with the Perodua hallmarks of high quality, reliability, practicality, ease to drive and the biggest service network in the country to provide a great-value mobility package that is perfectly suited to Malaysians from all walks of life.

“To all Malaysians, thank you very much for making Perodua your brand of choice. Your unwavering support throughout the 25 years we have been operating encourages and motivates us to do better for you. After all, we are a People First company first and foremost,” he concluded.

Perodua Provides Illumination On Its Future Path

Perodua_Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018_MalaysiaThe Perodua pavilion at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS ’18) is themed ‘Illumination’ and seeks to enlighten visitors to the motor show of Perodua’s capabilities in vehicle concept and design, perhaps a sign of what’s to come for the company.

At the show, Perodua has on display its X-Concept vehicle, a tech-laden concept vehicle. With the profile of a tall hatchback, the X-Concept’s highlights include an LED-illuminated X-themed front grille and Perodua logo, low-set Y-shaped LED headlamps that combine with the bumper to form a large X, dynamic pulse turn indicators and sway doors that open to reveal the absence of a B-pillar (the lack of a B-pillar may seem impractical but we can name at least one current vehicle running around Japan that doesn’t have it).

Inside, the X-Concept has a futuristic dashboard with a TFT instrument panel, a 12.9″ central touchscreen and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Perodua_President & CEO_Datuk Dr Aminar Rashid Salleh“Perodua’s stand at KLIMS18 offers a glimpse into a future direction it may take to meet the ever-evolving expectations of our valued customers,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh. “Themed Illumination, the Perodua stand is our vision of what we aspire to be; a beacon of ideas in line with the needs and wants of our future customers,” he added.

“In keeping with KLIMS18’s Beyond Mobility theme, the Perodua X-Concept is much more than just a vehicle in the accepted sense. It is the manifestation of Perodua’s vision of the future, a vision where cars are lifestyle statements first, means of transport second, and bristling with connected technology. “And we’re letting the public ‘drive’ and experience it, through the wonders of virtual reality,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

Visitors are welcome to engage with Perodua’s Research and Development team to give their feedback and views, Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

Perodua Myvi GT Concept_KLIMS 2018_MalaysiaAlso on display is the Myvi GT concept which is a design exercise that shows off the sportier side of the popular compact hatchback. Key features of the Myvi GT include bold front and rear bumpers, upgraded brakes behind 17″ sports rims, Alcantara bucket seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Would you like one if it came with a turbocharged engine under the hood, and manual transmission?

In addition, there is a display showcasing a next-generation powertrain from Perodua’s technical partner, Daihatsu Motor Company of Japan. In today’s world of bottom lines and stakeholder happiness, platform and powertrain sharing is common and makes financial sense for all. But Perodua’s recent move to produce vehicles with designs that diverge from Daihatsu’s means the company can save on platform development and focus on building its own identity.

Perodua_KLIMS 2018_Malaysia_SUV_TeaserAnd in case you didn’t notice a white box in the display area, it’s a teaser of Perodua’s next SUV which will most likely be launched within the next couple of months (otherwise they wouldn’t tease it. Remember the new Myvi?).

Perodua Aruz SUV Now Open For Booking; Official Launch Soon

The new Perodua Aruz SUV is now open for booking pending its official launch soon. Even though we had our hands on the details earlier, we had decided to wait for the official word to publish; the internet was already full of the leaked info anyway.

Perodua Aruz Tentative Price List - MalaysiaUnsurprisingly, the Aruz is a 7-seater SUV and will be available in two variants, the 1.5 X and 1.5 AV, with prices expected around RM72,200 and RM77,200 respectively (on the road before insurance in Pen. Malaysia). There are five colours available – Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Electric Blue, Granite Grey and a new Amazon Green.

Yes, it is powered by a 1.5L Dual VVT-i engine paired with a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission (E-AT). With Eco Idle, it claims a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 15.6 km/l, allowing it to be government-certified as an Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV). This powertrain is built in Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan. If it sounds familiar, it’s because this is also found in a certain Toyota cousin which is coincidentally a 7-seater SUV.

“The Perodua Aruz is our fourth transformation model, setting new standards for us in quality, space, fuel efficiency and safety – the latter bolstered by a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. With these qualities and more, the Perodua Aruz is among the best-value SUVs in Malaysia,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, adding that the vehicle comes with a five-year / 150,000 km warranty
(whichever comes first).

Perodua Aruz_Teaser_Front_MalaysiaBoth variants feature LED headlamps with follow-me-home function (auto lights on the AV / Advance variant), 17″ two-tone alloys, Smart Entry with Push Start/Stop Button, touchscreen radio with reverse camera display, digital air-con with two memory settings, air vents for the rear passengers, a built-in toll card reader, USB charging ports for all rows, anti-snatch bag hook, foldaway utility hooks and semi-bucket front seats.

The Advance variant adds fog lamps, roof rails, leather seats, ‘receive call’ button on steering wheel, HDMI port and digital video recorder as well as Smart Link, Bluetooth and navigation in its infotainment unit.

Perodua Aruz_Teaser_Space_Malaysia“The Perodua Aruz is perfect for families and those with active, aspirational lifestyles. The elevated driving position affords great visibility all round, while the abundance of space and flexible seating layouts make the vehicle extremely versatile and adaptable to any activity you wish to undertake,” Dato’ Zainal said. The Aruz has a ground clearance of 220 mm, so it would handle all but the most extreme of floods.

“The Perodua Aruz is expected to complement our existing product line-up and based on our value proposition, we expect sales of this new model to average 2,500 units monthly or 31,200 units by end-2019,” Dato’ Zainal added.

Safety-wise, the Aruz gets 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating with the inclusion of Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), ISOFIX and six airbags, which are all standard across the range.

Perodua Aruz_Teaser_Safety_MalaysiaFurthermore, the Advance variant is fitted with an upgraded version of the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) active safety suite. ASA 2.0 adds pedestrian detection (up to 50 km/h) to the safety suite and increases the operational speeds of Pre-Collision Warning to 100 km/h and Pre-Collision Braking to 80 km/h. The safety suite continues to incorporate Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.

“For more information on the Perodua Aruz, we welcome the public to speak with our authorised sales advisors at any of our sales outlets nationwide,” Dato’ Zainal said.

The Aruz will be in showrooms soon.

Perodua Aruz 7-Seater SUV Officially Launched In Malaysia

After some teasing, a preview test drive and some information leak, the Perodua Aruz 7-seater is officially launched in Malaysia. We had posted details of the Aruz earlier when Perodua announced it open for booking, and we are happy to report that there hasn’t been any significant changes to the facts. That should be comforting news to the 2,200 people who placed a booking since Perodua started accepting it on 3 January 2019.

Perodua_Dato Zainal Abidin Ahmad_President & CEO_MalaysiaThis is also the first major event for new Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad who took over the reins from Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh who recently retired. “As a People First company, Perodua has always been about making advanced technology and the latest trends in the automotive world accessible to as many Malaysians as possible,” he commented.

“SUVs are enjoying a big rise globally. Buyers like their versatility, comfort, high driving position, good visibility and increased space while still maintaining a compact footprint. Above all, their appearance projects an active, adventurous and aspirational lifestyle that many desire. With the Perodua Aruz, many more Malaysians can now enjoy the benefits of an SUV, plus advanced features typically found only in pricier vehicles. This makes it among the best-value SUVs on sale today, with space, safety and efficiency elevated,” he added.

Perodua Aruz SUV_Malaysia_LaunchThe Perodua Aruz is available in two variants – 1.5 X and 1.5 AV, priced at RM72,900 and RM77,900 respectively (on-the-road before insurance in Pen. Malaysia). Warranty is five years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first. The Aruz is the company’s fourth vehicle with EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) certification and claims a class-leading fuel economy of 15.6 km per litre. Further, 95% of the components are locally sourced.

The 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i 2NR-VE engine in both variants puts out 75 kW @ 6,000 rpm and 133 Nm of torque @ 4,200 rpm. The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed E-AT. This 7-seater SUV boasts 213 litres of luggage space that expands to 514 with the third row folded down.

Features common to both variants are:

  • ASEAN NCAP 5-star rating
  • Eco Idle system
  • Keyless smart entry & push button start/stop
  • Built-in toll card reader
  • Six speakers
  • Two USB ports
  • Two 12V sockets
  • 11 cup holders
  • Digital air-con controller
  • Folding & sliding second row seats
  • Six airbags (front, side & curtain)
  • Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution & Brake Assist
  • Vehicle Stability Control
  • Traction Control
  • Emergency Stop Signal
  • Hill-start Assist
  • Reverse camera
  • ISOFIX points
  • Solar & security window film
  • 17″ alloy wheels
  • Powered wing mirrors with integrated turn signals
  • LED headlights with Follow-Me-Home function, light guides and manual levelling
  • LED type rear combination lamps
  • Integrated spoiler

The range-topping Aruz 1.5 AV adds on:

  • Integrated driving video recorder
  • Front fog lamps
  • Automatic headlights
  • Silver painted rear diffuser
  • Roof rail
  • Leather seats
  • Multimedia system with navigation, Smart Link for Android & HDMI port
  • Advanced Safety Assist 2.0

Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) is a driving safety suite using a camera system upgraded to detect both vehicles and pedestrians to help reduce low- to medium-speed accidents. It features:

  • Pre-Collision Warning: This alerts the driver when the system detects a risk of frontal collision
  • Pre-Collision Braking: The system will apply the brakes when it detects an increasing risk of collision with a vehicle or pedestrian ahead
  • Front Departure Alert: This alerts the driver when the vehicle in front has moved and you are still stationary
  • Pedal Misoperation Control: This feature will suppress engine power output despite the driver’s throttle input if it detects an obstruction in front.

First Drive Impressions

Perodua Aruz_1.5L 2NR-VE Dual VVT-i Engine_MalaysiaEarlier on, we were invited to a short drive of the Aruz at Perodua’s test facility, to get a feel of the vehicle. The 1.5-litre 2NR-VE engine is no stranger as it can be found in several vehicles; the same goes for the 4-speed automatic. Power is sufficient to get this 7-seater vehicle going at highway speeds but we think it will be too optimistic for one to make aggressive or brisk overtaking manouevres at high speed, especially when loaded with passengers or goods. The transmission gears down seamlessly when necessary but the engine will roar at higher rpm which is expected given that there are only four gears to work with.

Perodua Aruz 1.5AV_Steering Wheel_Malaysia_LaunchThis however, is not a big problem in town driving as we move from traffic light to traffic light. For your school/tuition or pasar runs, the Aruz should be more than adequate to keep up with traffic flow. Also, the advantage of having a rear-wheel drive configuration means the front wheels have a smaller turning radius which makes the Aruz easy to manouevre in tight spaces.

It should also be frugal in heavy traffic since a 1.5-litre block will burn less fuel at idle; the Aruz is also equipped with an idle stop function which switches off the engine when you fully depress the brake pedal. Furthermore, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated means you are eligible for the petrol subsidy. You can read about a similar drive impression here.

Colors available are Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Electric Blue, Granite Grey and Amazon Green (new).

Currently, Perodua is offering all customers who purchase the Perodua Total Protect Plus motor insurance free Perodua Auto Assist benefits, unlimited unnamed drivers, flood allowance of up to RM1,000 and Personal Accident coverage of up to RM10,000.

Perodua Sold 20,100 Vehicles in January 2019

Perodua has kicked off 2019 with all cylinders firing as it recorded over 20,100 vehicles sold in January. And despite its mid-month launch, Perodua managed to register about 1,025 units the 7-seater Aruz SUV before the month ended.

Compared to the same period in 2018, Perodua sold 13.6% more vehicles in January this year; 20,100 units vs 17,700 units in January 2018. This is also a 9.2% growth from the 18,400 Perodua vehicles sold in the month of December 2018.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato' Dr Zahari Husin - Malaysia“Despite the delay in the registration of Aruz, we managed to maximise the delivery of Aruz up to the wee hours, in anticipation of the long CNY break,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr. Zahari Husin said.

This achievement puts Perodua’s market share for January 2019 at about 41.7%, pending the announcement of official figures from the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).

“While Aruz has been received well with 8,000 booking so far, our other models has been doing equally well with more than 19,000 units registered in January,” Dato’ Dr. Zahari said. “The strong demand on Aruz has resulted some waiting period especially for the AV variant. We are doing our best to reduce this waiting period to a more acceptable level,” he added.

Perodua Aruz AV_3_4 Front Left_TopThe top-of-the-range Aruz AV, or Advanced Version, is the most popular model with buyers as it makes up 85% of bookings. The balance is demand for the X variant.

“On the speculation that Perodua Aruz’s price will increase, I wish to clarify that we are maintaining the price for the Aruz which is RM72,900 for the X variant and RM77,900 for the Advanced Version,” Dato’ Dr. Zahari confirmed.

Dato’ Dr. Zahari also mentioned that the Myvi is still the sales leader with over 8,400 units sold last month and that demand for other Perodua models is still strong. Its other models are also leading in their respective segments with the Axia, Bezza and Alza selling more than 5,500 units, 3,400 units and 1,600 units in January respectively.

“To all those celebrating this Lunar New Year, we at Perodua, wish you health, prosperity and happiness. Please be safe on the road,” he added.

Third Generation Perodua Myvi Hits 100,000 Mark

The third generation Perodua Myvi has hit the 100,000 mark, another milestone achieved by the national carmaker. Launched in November 2017, the new Myvi has become another Malaysian icon-on-wheels for Perodua.

Perodua Myvi_100k Milestone_Malaysia_2019“We are glad to announce that since the third-generation Perodua Myvi’s launch in November 2017, we have delivered over 100,000 of them to happy customers – that’s an average of over 1,560 units a week,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

He added that customer feedback has been largely positive, with many of them liking the Myvi’s stylish looks, practicality, ease to drive, low running costs thanks to its frugality and economical maintenance, generous space despite its compact size, plus advanced features usually only found in more premium cars. The upper body is largely designed by Perodua, with technical advice and input from its partner, Daihatsu.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato' Dr Zahari Husin - Malaysia“The Perodua Myvi is by far the most successful model in our history. The original Myvi launched in 2005 into a market then dominated by sedans. By 2013 it had overtaken the Kancil’s all-time sales (708,000 units from 1994 to 2009) and to date, we have sold nearly 1.1 million Myvis altogether,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Orders for the third-generation Myvi have reached a cumulative 150,000, and Perodua continues to work hard to fulfil those orders as properly and promptly as it can.

Perodua Myvi 1.5 AV Grey_Malaysia“We thank all Malaysians for welcoming the Myvi into your homes with open arms – it really encourages and motivates us to keep improving so we can serve you better. At Perodua, we never forget that we are a People First company,” Dato’ Dr Zahari added.

Perodua closed 2018 with a record 227,243 cars sold, making it Malaysia’s leading carmaker for the 13th consecutive year. The company has sold nearly 3.5 million cars since 1994.

Perodua Kicked Off The Chinese New Year With Selayang Hospital Visit

Today is the fifteenth day of Chinese New Year (a.k.a. Chap Goh Meh in Hokkien dialect), technically the final day of the lunar new year celebrations. But not everyone was fortunate enough to spend Chinese New Year with their family and friends, and it is particularly more difficult for a child. So, at the beginning of the lunar new year, Perodua decided to bring a little CNY cheer to the Selayang Hospital paediatric ward.

Perodua_Chinese New Year Visit_Selayang Hospital_Paediatric Ward_Malaysia_Albert NguThis is actually a revisit as the company had also done so last year. The national carmaker’s 10 volunteers and UFirst mascot, Ari, was there to distribute ang pows and hampers containing string bags and stationery to some 80 child patients, who were then treated to a delicious lunch.

“Delivering on Perodua’s long-term charity commitment with Selayang Hospital’s paediatric ward, we hope our humble contributions today managed to evoke the spirit of Chinese New Year in both the children and hardworking staff, who will not be celebrating at home this year.

“Last Chinese New Year, we presented the paediatric ward with three ambu bags (handheld breathing apparatus) and distributed hampers to all the children. We keep in constant touch with Selayang Hospital to learn what they need and want – just like we do with our valued customers.

“We have loads of activities planned for the children over the next few years, including puppet and clown performances, colouring and sing-alongs. Our volunteers will also help to maintain and improve the children’s play area by buying more toys and books as well as decorating and cleaning it,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

Perodua also gave the paediatric ward three pulse oximeters (oxygen measurement device) and six portable screens worth RM12,000 in total. Perodua Executive Chief Engineer, Mr Albert Ngu, presented the items on behalf of the carmaker to the hospital’s Paediatric Department Head Dr Selva Kumar.

“As a People First company, Perodua wishes all Malaysians a healthy, happy and hearty Chinese New Year. Gong Xi Fa Cai! Ensure your vehicles are in good shape and drive safely, courteously and responsibly home to your loved ones,” Dato’ Zainal added.

In 2018, Perodua had committed to a sustainable charity programme with the Selayang Hospital paediatric ward until 2020.

tweckbot 039Perodua also encourages all owners to utilise Tweckbot, Perodua’s free mobile vehicle inspection team, prior to festive season travel. The Tweckbot service had inspected 125 cars in the run-up to this Chinese New Year and it targets to inspect a total of 1,000 vehicles during festive seasons at selected locations this year.

Tweckbot has helped to ensure the roadworthiness of Perodua vehicles during festive seasons since 2011, giving free 50-point checks to nearly 7,000 vehicles to-date.

Perodua Working Hard To Meet Demand As Sales Goes Up 7.3%

Perodua Myvi_1.5 AV_Rear Light Cluster_MalaysiaPerodua is working hard to meet demand for its vehicles as sales increased by 7.3% in the first two months of 2019. The company sold nearly 37,400 vehicles compared to the 34,800 vehicles sold in the same corresponding period in 2018. It said that the demand is spread across its model range. In the first two months, it sold around 15,000 Myvis, 10,100 Axias, 5,900 Bezzas, 3,600 Aruz and 2,700 Alzas. Meanwhile, production volume hit 36,500, approximately 6.2% higher than the corresponding period in the previous year.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato' Dr Zahari Husin - Malaysia“The heightened sales performance is a result of our efforts to further improve our delivery times,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin. “While we defer to the Malaysian Automotive Association’s numbers, we estimate our year-to-date market share to stand at 41%. Meanwhile, the Perodua Aruz, our latest seven-seater SUV, continues to rake in orders strongly, with over 13,000 bookings captured since early January,” he added.

The Perodua Aruz is offered in two variants – X and AV – with the AV being the more popular choice at 85% of total bookings.

“We have adjusted our production to reduce the waiting time for the Aruz. This will continue in March as well. We are thankful for your support and your patience, and look forward to serving you for many years to come,” Dato’ Dr Zahari stated.

Perodua Aruz SUV_Malaysia_LaunchNonetheless, Perodua will still continue to promote the Aruz with a nationwide roadshow called “Aruz On Tour”. The final stop for the roadshow will be Kuching, Sarawak on 8 – 10 March, at The Spring Shopping Mall.

“We welcome everyone in Kuching to join Aruz On Tour to see Perodua’s latest SUV in the metal and take it for a spin. Alternatively, have a chat with our friendly authorised sales advisors at a Perodua sales outlet near you to determine the most suitable Perodua vehicle for you,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Perodua Sales MD Clarifies Bezza Service Costs

There have been numerous reports published on the service costs of the Perodua Bezza being purportedly 32% higher than the Proton Persona, thus Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr. Zahari Husin wishes to clarify the matter.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr. Zahari HusinRecent reports in the media had illustrated the difference between the five-year service costs of the Proton Persona and two other car models, which are alleged to be the Perodua Bezza and Honda City. Dato’ Dr. Zahari states that there is inaccuracy in this comparison as the cost differences are not apple-to-apple.

The Proton Persona’s service costs were calculated as scheduled in its service booklet or owner’s manual while the Perodua Bezza’s costs were calculated based on its Preventive Maintenance costs which are optional, instead of scheduled costs as recommended in the service booklet.

Perodua Bezza Basic Service Cost_MalaysiaBased on the table above, the Perodua Bezza’s total maintenance cost difference, vs the Persona, at the 5-year mark is RM44 or 1.4%. The difference is attributed to the premium cost of the 0W-20 grade lubricant recommended for the Bezza instead of the 10W-30 for the Proton Persona.

Perodua Bezza GXtra 1.0L 1KR-VE Engine, MalaysiaFurther, the Perodua recommends the use of iridium spark plugs for maximum fuel efficiency and smoother engine performance. According to Perodua’s scheduled service costs, the Bezza will cost RM239.55 less than the Persona at the end of the third year.

Dato’ Dr. Zahari states that for those who are willing to spend a bit more than what is recommended in the owner’s service manual, Perodua also offers an optional preventive package known as Pro-Care. The Pro-Care package includes tyre alignment and balancing; air conditioning maintenance; and replacement of components to ensure smooth driving and peace of mind.

“The Pro-Care package is our way of providing a complete service package at our service outlets for the convenience of our customers. Flyers and banners are placed at our service outlets to create awareness of this service and it is entirely voluntary,” he added.

Perodua Aruz SUV To Help Company Expand East Malaysia Market

Perodua is banking on its Aruz seven-seater SUV to top the segment sales chart in East Malaysia, which is a predominantly SUV market. “Perodua is targeting to expand further its East Malaysian market share from 40% currently, and the new Perodua Aruz will spearhead that expansion in this SUV-popular region,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

Perodua Aruz_TransBorneo Convoy_Sarawak - Sabah_MalaysiaIn its bid to further conquer the market, Perodua had arranged for a multi-city Perodua Aruz TransBorneo Convoy to travel between Kuching in Sarawak to Tawau in Sabah, a trip of approximately 1,500 km. The convoy of six Perodua Aruz, which is currently midway through this journey, will call at major cities like Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Ranau and Sandakan, to engage with local communities and councils, and allow them to get up close and experience the new Perodua SUV.

The Perodua Aruz has ground clearance of 220 mm which gives it great all-round visibility and the ability to traverse semi-rough terrain and minor floods with ease. Its body-on-frame construction also makes it durable and capable of handling loads.

Perodua Aruz SUV_Best In Class Fuel Consumption_MalaysiaFurther, the Aruz has six airbags and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) as standard across the range, plus Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 on the range-topping AV variant.

“I am pleased to announce that since the Perodua Aruz’s launch in January, over 4,000 units have found homes out of over 14,000 bookings nationwide to date. This favourable reception by the Malaysian public both humbles and encourages us to work harder to improve our delivery times and serve you better,” Dato’ Zainal said.
